SRINAGAR, July 2: Police today busted an inter-state drug racket by arresting 15 persons and seizing over 300 kilograms of fukki in central Kashmir’s Budgam district .
A Police spokesman said that striving with its efforts to weed out the scourge of drug menace, police established a motor vehicle checking post at Ichgam Budgam road and intercepted two vehicles. During the search, green polythene packets each containing fukki weighing around 1 kilogram each on an average which were packed in around 8 different sized suitcases weighing approximately 323 kgs in total were recovered from the vehicles.
He said the apprehended people include 7 males and 8 females. During the investigation, it surfaced that the apprehended persons were part of an inter-state drug racket operating in states of Punjab and J&K. The group would carry along female accomplices in sedans and high end vehicles to disguise themselves as tourists. The seized fukki is sold at an average price of Rs. 2500 per kg in Punjab.
A case with FIR Number 166 of 2018 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act 2018 stands registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation has been taken up.
