Police complaint against Salman, Shilpa for making ‘casteist’ remarks during TV show

 MUMBAI: A complaint has been lodged against film star Salman Khan and actor Shilpa Shetty for allegedly insulting a community with ‘casteist’ remarks on a TV show.
Navin Ramchandra Lade, general secretary of Rojgar Aghari Republican Part of India and a member of the Mahar community, lodged the complaint at the Andheri police station.
The Valmiki community had earlier lodged a complaint with the police, seeking action against Khan for using a ‘casteist’ word during a promo for his movie ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’.
Meanwhile, in Rajasthan, Valmiki members burnt posters of the movie and vandalised theatres in Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota.
In Jaipur, protestors burnt posters of the movie, tied garlands of shoes on cutouts of the film and raised slogans. Similar scenes were witnessed in other parts of the state, including Bikaner, Ajmer and Alwar, where a bonfire was made of the movie’s posters. (AGENCIES)
