JAMMU, Oct 5: Police conducted a mock drill in and around the general bus stand here to check the preparedness for any untoward incident on ground. The exercise was carried out in wake of border disturbance and present security scenario in the State.
In the drill, SOG, CAPF, police officers and officials from Sub-Division City North and West– Bus Stand, City, Pacca Danga, Bakshi Nagar and Nowabad police station participated.
The main focus of this exercise was to check coordination and reaction time in case of any militant attack and anti national activity. In most of such cases general public gathers on the place of incident and ANEs and ASEs can take the advantage of crowd and commit other incident of the same nature causing loss to human life and panic in the area.
According to SOP prepared for such situation–plugging of lanes leading to bus stand to prevent the crowd, catch and hold the suspect, diversion of traffic routes and appeal to public not to believe in rumors was adopted.
