Police continues drive against illicit liquor

REASI, Nov 12: Two bootleggers were held by Katra Police while smuggling liquor to the holy town while another person was apprehended from a village in Arnas, who was preparing illicit liquor in his house.
Reports said that Katra  police,   acting on a specific input, laid a special naka at Balini Colony in Katra and  intercepted two persons namely  Sukhdev Singh of  Sawlakote  Arnas and  Arjun Kumar of Parthal  Katra. 41 poly pouches, measuring 250/250 ml each of J&K Excise liquor, were recovered from their possession.
Both the accused persons were arrested and in this connection, a case was registered at Police Station Katra.
Meanwhile, a team of Police personnel, headed by SHO Arnas, Inspector Sanjeev Sharma, conducted a raid at village Kaseeri, tehsil Arnas and recovered three litres illicit Desi liquor and around 50 litres Lahan from the house of one Hardev Singh.   The accused person managed to escape from the spot and the efforts were on to nab him. The recovered liquor was seized and Lahan was destroyed on the spot.
In this connection, a case has been registered at Police Station Arnas.
