Police destroys 300 liters of Lahan, arrests 3 persons

KATHUA, Sept 15: District Police Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal- in its action against the consumption and production of illicit liquor destroyed near about 300 liters of Lahan, arrested three persons and seized one motorbike along with 25 liters of illicit liquor in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Rajbagh.
Police said it was reliably learnt that one lady namely Salma wife of Beru Kumar is running the illegal business of preparing and selling Desi liquor at village Birsu Chak, tehsil Marheen. Acting swiftly police team led by Inspector, Vikas Sharma incharge Police Post, Marheen under the supervision of SDPO Border, Sachit Mahajan conducted a raid at Village Birsu Chak wherein approximately 100 liters of Lahan along with 10 liters of Desi liquor was found from the possession of the lady.
All the recovered utensils along with all the consignment of Lahan was destroyed, one lady was arrested and 10 liters of illicit liquor was also seized on the spot. A case vide FIR No. 184/2021 u/s 48 (a) (b) (e) Excise Act was registered at PS Rajbagh against the accused and further investigation has been initiated.
While in another instance it was reliably learnt that two more persons namely Neetu, son of Chandu Ram of Banyari and Munish Kumar, son of Tilak Raj of Nagrota are doing the illegal trade of Desi liquor at village Danna Banyari near Khanpur, tehsil Marheen. Acting on same another police team led by PSI, Neeraj Parihar under the supervision of Inspector, Amit Sangra, SHO PS Rajbagh raided the said spot wherein 200 liters of Lahan along with 15 Liters of Desi liquor and utensils used for the preparation of Desi liquor were also recovered. Thereafter all the recovered consignment of Lahan were destroyed, two persons were arrested, one bike bearing Registration Number JK08K-8734 along with 15 liters of illicit liquor was seized. A case vide FIR No. 183/2021 under Section 48(a) (e) Excise Act was registered at PS Rajbagh and further investigation is underway.
