Police distributes school bags, stationery among Gujjar students

SAMBA, Apr 20 : With a view to encourage and inspire the students of Gujjar & Bakkarwal community to peruse studies and to provide counselling to their parents to get their wards well educated , Samba Police today organized a grand educational awareness function under CAP at border village Malani Gujjar Basti in Samba sector in the jurisdiction of the Police Station Ghagwal where SSP Samba, Benam Tosh accompanied by Additional SP, Samba, Surinder Choudhary, DySP, DAR, Ajay Anand, SHO Police Station, Ghagwal Bharat Bhushan and in charge Police Post (PP), Rajpura, PSI Sudhir Singh distributed school bags and stationary items to the most deserving students of Gujjar & Bakkarwal families.
A large number of people including Sarpanch, Malani Vinay Sharma, Sarpanch, Rajpura, Suresh Basotra, Naib Sarpanch, Malani Kiran Bala, Numbardar, Hameed Choudhary, social worker, Makhan Din and Shamsher Ali among others were present on the occasion and thanked police for organizing educational awareness programme for encouraging, inspiring and counseling Gujjar and Bakkarwal students.
Addressing gathering SSP Samba Benam Tosh said that police officers would frequently interact with students of Gujjar and Bakkarwal families in Samba district so as to encourage, groom and inspire them to peruse studies overcoming all odds in life adding that police would also motivate the family members of the students to invest in the education of their wards so that they become well educated, learned, enlightened and highly civilized law abiding citizens of the country. SSP Samba further said that all the elders of Gujjar community should step in and ask handful of deviated youth indulged in Heroin (‘Chitta’) smuggling/supplying and other illegal activities to shun bad business sooner than later.
On behalf of J&K Police, Benam Tosh conveyed ‘Eid Mubark’ in advance to the Gujjar/Bakkarwal students & their families and wished them all the best for future endeavours. He directed all the officers of the district police to redress all grievances of this community on priority whenever reported and provide them as much help & counselling as possible.
