SRINAGAR, Aug 23: Farhat Gulzar, a special J&K police officer stationed in Kupwara, has earned accolades by winning a silver medal in judo at the All-India Police Games held in Guwahati from June 24-30.
In a statement, the police highlighted that Farhat’s outstanding performance at the All-India Police Games is a testament to his dedication and hard work.
As a result of his success at the national level, police said, he has been selected to participate in the World Police and Fire Games, scheduled to be held in California, USA, in February 2025.
In recognition of his remarkable achievement, Farhat was felicitated today by Shobhit Saksena, SSP Kupwara, during a ceremony at the District Police Office.
Additionally, SSP Pulwama P. D. Nitya congratulated and presented an appreciation certificate and cash reward to athlete Aamir Hamid Wani from Dadoora, Pulwama, during a special ceremony.
The SSP praised Aamir’s perseverance and hard work, noting that his accomplishment serves as an inspiration to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
Notably, Aamir has made history by becoming the first player from Jammu and Kashmir to be selected for the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL). Aamir, who has been passionate about kabaddi since childhood, secured a position in the league with a base price of Rs 9 lakh, marking a significant milestone in his sports career.
