The Anganwari workers earlier assembled at Pratap Park and staged a sit-in against the Government’s alleged failure to fulfill their demands of increasing their monthly honorarium. The protesters alleged that the Government has miserably failed to look into the issues pertaining to the Anganwari workers, who are serving the department on meagre amount.
They said the Government has ignored the Anganwari workers at all fronts. “We are serving the department with dedication and honesty but the Government is turning their eye blind towards our plights,” they said, adding that the Government should have increased the monthly honorarium of the workers upto Rs 14, 000 per month.
The protesting workers said that the Government assured them several times that their genuine demands will be fulfilled soon but unfortunately all the promises and assurances done with them proved hoax on the ground. “Every successive regime has failed to fulfil its promises done with the Anganwadi workers,” they said.
The protesters later tried to march towards Clock Tower but the women police swung into action and foiled their attempt and detained scores of Anganwari workers.
