KATHUA, Feb 26: Police today foiled a robbery attempt at the J&K Bank Branch in Govindsar area here on the National Highway-44.
A police official said that two burglars, identified as Ankush Sharma from Udhampur and Sunil Singh from Kathua, broke into the bank by damaging the side wall of the building.
He said they attempted to break into the bank’s strong room, but their actions were interrupted by a night patrol team from Police Post Hatli, who noticed the suspicious activity inside the bank.
According to him, the burglars fled the scene under the cover of darkness, but the police quickly launched a search operation and using human as well as technical intelligence, arrested both the suspects later from Kootah area of Hiranagar.
Accordingly, both the accused were booked in case FIR number 97/2025 under the relevant sections of the law registered at Police Station Kathua and further investigation taken up.
