Srinagar, Feb 21: Police today foiled protest march of over two dozen employees of urban local bodies who were protesting against the Government for its failure to regularize daily wagers and fulfill their other demands.
Under the banner of ‘Jammu and Kashmir Local Bodies Employees United Forum’ (JKULBEUF), employees attempted to march on Residency Road, but police foiled their attempt and detained dozen of employees.
The protesters led by their president Manzoor Ahmad Pampori, assembled at Press Enclave here, demanded regularization of daily wagers and consolidated staff, transparent and time-bound transfer policy and the release of 6th Pay Commission arrears.
The JKULBEUF president Manzoor Ahmad Pampori said: “The Government should implement service rules, rationalize staff, conduct DPC, regularize daily wagers, consolidated employees, 6th Pay Commission and time-bound settlement of pension.”
Police swung into action as the protesters tried to march towards busy Residency Road and detained them. They were lodged in Kothibagh Police Station.
