Police foils bid to smuggle bovines, rescues 28 animals

KATHUA, July 27: A manhunt was launched by Kathua Police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal against bovine smuggling today and 28 bovines were rescued while one person was arrested in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Lakhanpur near Magar Khad area.
Police said a team of SOG Kathua led by DySP Kathua, Tilak Raj Bhardwaj during search operation in the jurisdictional area of PS Lakhanpur near Magar Khad noticed one suspicious person who was smuggling bovines from Punjab towards J&K UT by foot via Magar Khad area. During checking police team was able to rescue 28 bovine animals (23 Oxen & 05 Cows) from the illegal possession of one person namely Teg Ali alias Tegu son of Bashir Ahmed of Magar Khad tehsil and district Kathua.
One person was arrested and handed over to SHO, PS Lakhanpur for further necessary action. A case vide FIR Number 64/2022 U/S 188/IPC registered at PS Lakhanpur and further investigation taken up.
