Police foils bovine smuggling bid, one nabbed

POONCH, Aug 23: The police foiled a bovines smuggling attempt in Surankote area and seized a vehicle loaded with five milch animals today.
Official sources said that the team led by IC PP Behramgala, Rahul Rana, under the supervision of SHO Surankote, acting on intelligence inputs, stopped a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK12A/6787 for checking. The vehicle, driven by Mohd Sami, son of Manzoor Hussain Bashir, resident of Arif Tehsil, Mendhar, district Poonch, was found to be illegally transporting five bovine animals to Srinagar without valid permission.
As a result, the police have rescued all the five bovines, arrested the smuggler and seized the vehicle involved in the crime.
An FIR (No. 203/2024) has been registered under Section 223 BNS at Police Station Surankote, and further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
