Police foils bovine smuggling bid, rescues 10 animals

SAMBA, July, 20: District police Samba under the supervision of SSP Samba, Dr. Abhishek Mahajan, foiled two consecutive attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing 10 animals and seized two vehicles in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal.
Police said, acting on information received from reliable sources regarding illegal transportation of bovines, a police party of PS Ghagwal at Naka Tapyal intercepted one Mahindra load carrier bearing Registration Number, JK08B/9624 for checking.
During checking, five bovines were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission and were tied in a cruel manner.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 111/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered in Police Station, Ghagwal.
Similarly, a police party of PS Ghagwal rescued five more bovines at Naka Tapyal, Ghagwal which were being transported illegally in a Tata Yodha pickup having Chassis Number MAT464662NSC06119 ENGINE NO. 28987831ABFR.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 112/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
All the bovines were rescued and shifted to a safer place. The vehicles used for transporting the bovines were also seized.
