Police foils bovine smuggling bid, rescues 10 animals

KATHUA, Dec 11: In furtherance to tightening noose on bovine smuggling menace, a manhunt was launched by Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal against bovine smuggling, 10 bovines were rescued, one vehicle (Truck) was seized at Kharote Morh NHW Kathua.
Police said a team led by Incharge Police Post (PP), Hatli Ranbher Singh under the supervision of DySP Headquarter, Kathua. Shammi Kumar, during routine checking duty at Kharote Morh, NHW Kathua in its jurisdictional area noticed one suspicious vehicle bearing Registration Number JK02W-0975 coming from Punjab towards Kathua.
During checking, the police team rescued 10 bovines (08 cows & two Oxen) from the vehicle. A case FIR No. 467/2022 U/S 188/IPC 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Kathua and further investigation is going on. Thus overall 10 bovines were rescued and seized the said vehicle involved.
