Police foils bovine smuggling bids, arrests 2 smugglers

SAMBA, June 4: Police has foiled two bovine smuggling attempts during the early morning hours in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal and Police Station Samba, arrested two bovine smugglers and rescued eight bovines from the clutches of smugglers.
Police said a team of Police Post Goran headed by Incharge Police Post (PP) Goran has successfully foiled bovine smuggling attempt, arrested two bovine smugglers and rescued six bovines which were being smuggled by foot via Dhalote Khad.
The arrested bovine smugglers have been identified as Janid Ali son of Mohammad Hussain of Plai tehsil and district Samba and Muneer Ahmed son of Gugar Din of Ramkote district Kathua.
A case FIR No. 154/2024 U/S 188 IPC has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
Similarly, a Police team of Police Station Ghagwal headed by SHO PS Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at naka established at Main Chowk Ghagwal, intercepted a Mahindra Pickup bearing Registration Number JK 02DD/5314 coming via border road for checking. During checking of the vehicle, two bovines were found laden inside which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission.
A case FIR No. 84/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
