Police foils Contractual Lecturers’ attempt to take out protest march

JAMMU, Apr 9: On 55th consecutive day of their ongoing hunger strike, Contractual Lecturers (10+2) tried to take out a protest march towards the official residence of Education Minister Altaf Bukhari but their attempt was foiled by Police.
As soon as the protesting Contractual Lecturers came out of the Press Club Parking area, Policemen stopped them and did not allow them to proceed further. The slogan shouting protesters held a demonstration there without any confrontation with Police.
The Contractual Lecturers protested against the Education Minister, State Government and raised slogans in support of their demand. While addressing the protest demonstration, president of Contractual Lecturers (10+2) Association, Arun Bakshi warned to further intensify the ongoing agitation if their demand is not conceded by the Government. He reiterated that the Association would not lift its dharna and hunger strike till their case for regularization as per Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010 is finally settled.
These protesting Contractual Lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010. A policy framed for the Regularization of all the Ad-hoc/ Contractual/ Consolidated employees after rendering seven years of services.
Meanwhile, Rakesh Kumar, Rattan Surya, Fozia Bhat and Tripta Sharma began their hunger strike today.
