JAMMU, May 13: The police today foiled ‘Yuva Sankalp Yatra’ of Youth Congress leaders and workers against the PDP-BJP Government and its new recruitment policy and detained Indian Youth Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja and others this afternoon.
All India Youth Congress chief along with PYC president Pranav Shagotra was leading the yatra from Jammu city to Kashmir. The Youth Congress activists assembled at Jambu Lochan Bhawan, on Jail Road at around 2 pm and holding brief rally then started march in different vehicles towards Kashmir. A strong police contingent intercepted the PYC workers at Manda near Hari Palace and detained at least 150 PYC workers and leaders including IYC president Amrinder and PYC chief Mr Shagotra.
A large number of  senior Congress leaders including PCC president G A Mir,  former Ministers, Raman Bhalla, Rigzin Jora, Sham Lal, Manjit Singh, PCC general secretary Vikram Malhotra, Manmophan Singh, DCC president Anil Chopra and others also joined the programme at Jambu Lochan Hall.
Earlier, addressing the rally, AIYC president said that the yatra was aimed at making the public aware of  ‘’anti-people’’ policies of PDP-BJP led Government in the State and expose it fully before the public.
Asserting that the release of separatist leader  Masrat Alam was a blunder,  Amrinder Singh demanded registration of an FIR against Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed for releasing him and carrying forward the agenda of separatists besides crediting Pakistan for restoration of peace in the State.
‘’Anybody who talks anti-national or supports such elements should be booked,’’ IYC chief told media-persons at the sidelines of  ‘Yuva Sankalp Yatra’.  He said, “If action is taken against the common man then why not against the Chief  Minister and even I should not be spared for anti-national remarks”.
“Why Mr Sayeed should not be booked for his pro-Pak ideology’’, he asserted
He said Mr Sayeed was at responsible chair and should not issue such statements, which hurt the sentiments of every nationalist. ‘’Our fight is against anti-national elements and with Yuva Sankalp Yatra, we want to spread message among youth and people of Kashmir to stay away from vested interest elements,’’ he maintained.
The IYC leader criticised PDP-BJP alliance and said, ‘’BJP befooled the people of Jammu region and same did the PDP in Kashmir valley. “Their alliance was pre-planned but only to befool people of the State, they lingered on the process of Government formation,’’ he alleged.
On completion of one-year term of Modi-led Government at the Centre, Youth  Congress leader said, ‘’Mr Modi made big  promises to the people of the country but failed on all fronts in fulfilling  them’’. Terming the Prime Minister as ‘liar’, Mr Amrinder alleged that he has brought ‘black spot’ to such a  prestigious chair by making false promises and giving assurances to the  people. He said alliance with PDP was the biggest example of BJP’s double standard.
Meanwhile, all the detained Youth Congress leaders including Uma Shanker Pandey, Rajveer Singh, Satish Sharma, Pankaj Basotra, Naseer Mir, Vinay Sharma, Paramjit Singh,Rajan Sharma, Charanjeet Singh, Ajatshatru and other activists were released in the evening by police.
