JAMMU, Mar 2: Upset over no response of the Government towards the demand for regularization notwithstanding their chain hunger strike for the last fortnight, president of the agitating KGBV female teachers, today attempted self immolations even as Police foiled the bid.
In a high voltage drama, president of KGBV Female Teachers Association, Mymoona Khan poured kerosene oil on her body and tried to set herself ablaze. Lady Police on the spot, rushed forward and foiled the attempt of self immolation before the agitating teacher could lit matchstick.
Even as Ms Khan did not receive any burn injury, Police rushed her to hospital in view of kerosene oil getting into her eyes.
The high voltage drama took place this afternoon when the agitating KGBV female teachers were protesting at the venue of chain hunger strike near Press Club Jammu.
Shouting slogans, the agitating KHBV teachers were demanding their regularization on the pattern of Rehbar-e-Talim teachers.
Earlier, addressing the protesters, Ms Khan alleged that despite already agreed in principle by the State Government for regularizing the KGBV teachers on the analogy of ReT Teachers, the concerned authorities were adopting a delaying attitude.
These KGBV female teachers are observing chain hunger strike since February 16, 2016, for issuance of their regularization order.
