Police guard flees from Minister’s house along with two rifles

SRINAGAR, Mar 28: A policeman, posted at the house of Minister for Roads and Buildings, Altaf Bukhari, has fled away along with two rifles from his Sheikh Bagh residence here in Srinagar last night and security forces have launched massive hunt as they apprehend that he might joined Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).
A police spokesman said here that one Policeman Nisar Ahmad Mir (No. 221/Sec) and a resident of Karimabad, Pulwama is missing from his place of posting at Sheikhbagh, Srinagar along with some arms and ammunition since yesterday. “Police has taken cognizance and started investigation”, the spokesman added.
Naseer Ahmad Pandith of 11th battalion of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP), son of Ghulam Rasool Pandith of Kareemabad Pulwama went missing from the police post guarding the Minister’s residence along with two AK 47 rifles and two magazines from the guard room last night. Naseer was recruited into Police in 2007.
Sources said that three youth were waiting for him outside the residence of the Minister in a Tata Mobile vehicle. They said that all the four fled towards South Kashmir in the same Tata Mobile.
As Police got reports about the missing of the police man from Minister’s residence they launched massive hunt to nab them. Police and security forces established nakas at several places in the Southern outskirts of Srinagar and Pulwama and have also launched searches to nab these four men.
Sources said that three youth Bilal Ahmad, Tariq Ahmad and Afaq Ahmad, all his neighbours are missing from their house for last few days. Police and other security agencies suspect that these three youth are accompanying the police man. However, police is tight lipped on this issue.
In the meantime, an Assistant Sub-Inspector in the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Mohammad Shafi Parray, has gone missing in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district yesterday.
Police said that Ganderbal Police has launched large scale search operation for ASI Mohammad Shafi Parray resident of Wussan, Kangan who went missing from his home on March 26 evening.
Police has formed a special investigation team (SIT) headed by a senior Sub Inspector to search the missing police officer.
Police said that a large scale search operation is being conducted by three teams of police and a team from SDRF in the nearby forests, villages and river Sindh.
“Special teams have also been deputed to adjoining villages to get the information about the missing police official by all possible means. Search operations will continue till the whereabouts of the missing are not known”, police said.
Sources said that Parray was posted in District Budgam and has been absent from duty for the last one year. “He was suspended on 31/01/2014 in case FIR no 06/2014 u/s 307.353, 510,427/RPC registered against him in Police Station Ganderbal. Notices have been served to him by DPO Budgam on 14/01/2015 and 27/02/2015”, they added.
Police today registered a missing report in Police Station Ganderbal after family informed the police about his missing since March 26.
Meanwhile, family members of the Parray protested at Wussan, Ganderbal demanding his whereabouts.
