JAMMU, Dec 20: A Police-community participation group meeting was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kanachak Police Station for the Gujjar community in the Rajpura area.
As per a statement, over 100 local residents attended the meeting, which aimed to strengthen the relationship between the police and the public.
It said the meeting was chaired by SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh, who was accompanied by SP Rural Jammu, Brijesh Sharma, SDPO Domana, and SHO Kanachak.
Various issues were discussed in the meeting, including concerns related to the police and civil administration.
In his address, SSP Jammu assured the residents that their grievances would be addressed promptly.
He urged the community to cooperate with the police in addressing serious issues like drug abuse, bovine smuggling, and theft, noting that some miscreants in the area were involved in such activities.
SSP Singh also emphasized the importance of education and encouraged residents to take advantage of the Government schemes aimed at their upliftment.
He suggested the local youth to participate in dairy farming training programs, which could provide additional livelihood opportunities and help improve income through the use of modern dairy technologies.
Given the area’s proximity to the International Border, the SSP advised residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity, including the sighting of drones or unfamiliar individuals.
The community members appreciated the police’s initiative in organizing such meetings, acknowledging that they help build stronger ties between the police and the public.
They assured full cooperation with the police to maintain peace and security in the area.
