Police hospitals being strengthened with latest facilities: Sham

JAMMU, Dec 17:  With a view to ensure quality healthcare to the police personnel and their families, the Government will upgrade the police hospitals at Jammu and Srinagar with latest diagnostic and infrastructural facilities. This initiative will cater the healthcare needs of more than one lakh workforce of State Police and their families.
This was stated by the Minister for Health & Family Welfare Sham Lal Sharma during his visit to Police hospital here today.  While interacting with the top brass of Police Department and hospital administration, the Minister said that Government was aware about the increased workload in view of adequate expansion in the different wings of police force during the past some years and it is endeavor of the Government to provide quality healthcare to everyone in the department and their family members which is their Fundamental Right.
He directed the Medical Superintendents of the Police hospitals of Jammu and Srinagar to submit a comprehensive proposal consultation with the senior functionaries of the police for their upgradation according to the increased workload and future requirements.
Meanwhile, he assured the hospital administration that Government would help in strengthening the facilities of both hospitals by way of posting more specialist doctors and para-medics.
Responding to the demands of Director General of Police, the Minister directed the Medical Superintendents to depute Dental Surgeons and Eye Specialists in different districts to provide consultation to the police personnel at least twice in a week. He also directed to introduce the Janta Health Insurance Scheme in the Police Department to facilitate the Police personnel.
Earlier, the Minister took round of all sections of the hospital and issued on the spot instructions to the hospital authorities for undertaking the renovation work of the building. He impressed upon the doctors to discharge their duties with extra dedication and commitment and serve the patients with missionary spirit.
Medical Superintendent Police hospital, Jammu Dr. Poonam Mahajan briefed the Minister about the performance of the hospital during the past one year.
Director General of Police Ashok Prasad assured the Minister that the Police Department will extend full cooperation for strengthening the infrastructure and identify the land for the construction of hospital building.
ADGP Dr. S.P.Vaid, IG Technical S. Owais, DIG Adm. (PHQ) Rajinder Gupta, DIG Armed Johnney William, Mission Director, NRHM Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Medical Superintendent, Police Hospital, Srinagar Dr. G.N.Koka were also present on the occasion.
