Sir,
This has reference to the various news items pertaining to Police which are tarnishing the image of police. The news is related to serious allegations of illegal land occupancy, violations of building plans, role of police officers in Kishtwar incident of 2014, forced collections for farewell parties, facilitating the land grabbers, purchasing palatial houses outside the state, registration of FIRs against very senior officers in offing and many more are the daily sops for the readers. Before the public openly starts branding this department as a hub of law violators instead of law protectors, how for it is correct must be known to the public, from the highest seat of the department. Without raising a finger against the source of this fourth pillar of the democracy, who is performing its role towards the society and authenticity of such sensational disclosures, I am of the view that largely the effects of such disclosures definitely affect the relations between public and police and the trustship between people and police is eroded and accusing fingers are pointed towards police, and its role in the modern society comes under clout. Suspicious eyebrows are also raised by the down below officers/officials in the department, with the result such officers cannot exert for better results and thus an atmosphere of uncertainty prevails.
It is also a fact that almost in every department and right from base to top, many officials/officers have been held in similar situations including ex-ministers, parliamentarians, councilors and legislatures, but the act of guardians of law responsible and empowered to book such tainted element is rarely tolerated by the public and it creates more gap than bridging it.
Yours etc…..
