Police, locals rescue tourists

SRINAGAR, Apr 1: Police and locals in a swift action rescued a group of tourists including two children when their Shikara capsized due to high velocity winds in Dal Lake this evening.
Police said Atanu Chatterji, his wife Poornama Chatterji and their child Arpan Chatterji and Sirpa Dass wife of Gopal Dass and her son Anuraj Dass from Kolkata, West Bangal, were rescued in a swift action of Police when they were on a pleasure ride in a Shikara which capsized due to wind storm in Dal Lake.
Police utilized the services of rescue motor boat and were able to save the tourists. They were later taken to their hotel. People as well as the tourists have hailed the efforts of police.
