Police, MVD to take action against traffic rule violators

KATHUA, Mar 11:- Kathua district administration and J&K Motor Vehicles Department today embarked upon an initiative to provide driving skill training to border youth under Border Area Development Program (BADP).
The training program was today inaugurated by SSP Kathua, Dr. Shailendra Mishra in presence of RTO, Dr. R K Thapa and ASP, Ramnish Gupta.
The training would be imparted to 105 youths of three border blocks of Kathua namely Hiranagar, Marheen and Nagri under BADP, and will benefit unemployed youth by skilling and up-skilling them.
The SSP Kathua, on the occasion advised the trainees and the gathering to obey traffic rules while driving. He also said that Kathua Police is determined to enforce the traffic laws as they not only protect the drivers but also other road commuters.
Helmet not only for rider but pillion rider also, driving license and other necessary documents must be ready with the driver while they are driving on the road, Mishra said and further added that responsible citizens must perform responsible driving.
He also warned the gathering that strict action under law will be taken by Kathua Police against those found violating traffic rules.
“Considering the growing rate of vehicles, there is an urgent need of skilled drivers in addition to the existing strength. This training program under BADP will chip in to overcome the shortage of skilled manpower in the sector and creating new avenues of employment for border youth. With this arrangement, we aim to train 35 candidates from one border block at a time,” said Dr. Thapa and added that the candidates were selected by the concerned BDC Chairperson.
The selected candidates will then be allotted driving schools, wherein they will undergo the driving training.
He also informed the gathering that all owners must register their BS-IV compliant vehicles before 31 March, 2020 otherwise; their vehicles will not get registered, in accordance with the guidelines of the apex court.
Earlier, learning licenses were also distributed among the candidates by the SSP and the RTO.
BDC chairman of Marheen, Karan Kumar, ARTO and MVIs were also present during the programme.
