Police nabs 2; rescue 3 girls in Baramulla trafficking case

SRINAGAR, July 22: Police today arrested two more suspects and rescued three more girls in the ongoing Baramulla human trafficking case, bringing the total number of suspects arrested to four and the total number of rescued minor girls to seven.
Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla, Amod Nagpur, said that the investigation revealed the involvement of additional individuals. Consequently, two more suspects, Ghulam Mohammad Khan, son of Ab Rehman, a resident of Narbal, and Manzoor Ahmad Shah, son of Gh Mohammad, a resident of Janbazpora, were apprehended. “The investigation indicated that these individuals were involved in the trafficking and exploitation of minor girls outside the Union Territory,” he said. SSP added that the police have so far arrested four people and rescued seven girls, who have been placed in the Nari Niketan shelter. “Our efforts are focused on dismantling the entire trafficking network and ensuring that all those involved are brought to justice,” he said.
He said the rescued girls, who are from the Rohingya community in Burma, are part of an ongoing investigation to determine how they managed to cross the border and reach first India and then Jammu and Kashmir.
