Srinagar, Nov 23: Police in a series of actions across Kashmir valley, arrested three drug peddlers in Anantnag and Baramulla while a huge cache of contraband substances has also been recovered from their possession.
In Anantnag, Bijbehara police at a checkpoint arrested three drug peddlers identified as Mehraj Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mohammad Ismail, resident of Dalgate Srinagar, Mohd Altaf Baluki, son of Abdul Rashid, resident of Ranawari, Srinagar and Rayees Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Salam, resident of Prichal, Pulwama.
“Police was able to recover 12Kgs of charas powder from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody. A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Bijbehara and investigation initiated,” a police official said.
In Baramulla, police said, during routine patrolling at Yadipora Pattan a police party led by I/C PP Palhallan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan, Mohammad Nawaz Khanday, arrested a drug peddler identified as Laldin Poswal, son of Siraj-ud-Din Poswal, resident of Warnow Lolab, Kupwara and recovered 16 strips (172 tablets) of banned drugs from his possession.
“He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody. A case under the relevant section of law has been registered at PS Pattan and further investigation is in progress,” police said.
