Police not to act against girl

SRINAGAR, Dec 25:
Police today said they would not proceed against the girl who was arrested in Anantnag district last week for her alleged involvement in 2010 summer protests.
“Police will not proceed against Zahida, a resident of Batengoo in Anantnag,” Inspector General of Police S M Sahai said.
During 2010, cases were lodged against people involved in various acts of disturbances, he said.
“The Government later announced that the police will not proceed further against those against whom there are no serious charges of violence.
“So keeping all this in view, we have decided not to proceed further in this case,” Sahai said.
Zahida was arrested last Saturday for her alleged involvement in 2010 summer protests and was released on bail by a court. (PTI)
