Police official among 6 held for gambling

Srinagar, Jan 30: Six gamblers including a police Sub-Inspector (SI) have been arrested in Achabal area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district and stake money of Rs.6035 along with the bundle of cards from the gambling spot have been recovered.
A police spokesman said acting on a tip off police raided a gambling site in the house of Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Sheikh at Bonpora Akingam in Achabal and arrested six gamblers who were identified as Ghulam Mohi-ud-din, Reyaz Ahmad Khanday, Ghulam Hassan Naikoo, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Mohammad Yousuf Mir and Mudasir Ahmad Malik. Sources said that Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din is a police SI.
“Stake money of Rs.6035 and 2 bundles of playing cards were recovered from the gambling site. A case under FIR number 19/16 under section 13 gambling act was registered in Police Station Achabal and investigation was taken up,” the spokesman added.
