SRINAGAR, Feb 20: In a bid to curb rash driving, overloading and to check proper documents of vehicles, Police in Sopore with Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) intensified its activities to penalize the violators of the traffic rules in the area.
The special drive was launched to streamline traffic, informing people about their responsibilities while driving and check chances of accidents by the negligent and rash driving.
The ARTO Sopore, Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi, told that the special drive was launched against rash driving, over loading, driving without license and proper documents. “The drive was launched after frequent complaints from the public of the area”, the ARTO added.
Sofi said the drive was launched in Sopore, Baramulla and Rafiabad area of the district.
The ARTO imposed 90 challans on violators of traffic rules within few hours on first day. “At Sangrama Chowk, I monitored the traffic movement and challaned the violators,” Sofi said.
