Police produces challan in Panchari killing case

UDHAMPUR, Mar 23: Police today produced challan against four militants involved in Panchari killing and looting of rifles from the Village Defence Committee members, in the court of law for judicial determination and initiation of proceedings against absconding Hizbul Mujahideen commander namely Mohd Hussain alias Hussainu code Shoukat Patwari.
These four militants were among group of 13 who had killed two VDC members and three civilians in Panchari area. Eight militants were killed in different encounters while as one is still absconding and police has kept the option open to produce supplementary challan in this case if required.
This case was worked out when Additional SP Udhampur Benam Tosh, while perusing the investigation of double murder case of Panchari, arrested one Abdul Latief, son of Gulam Nabi of Chhachhwa Gool for questioning.
During enquiry, Abdul Latief denied his role in the double murder case but confessed his involvement in the massacre of Chakka Galiote held on November 30, 2001. The disclosure of accused revealed that top militant commanders of Gool area belonging to HM outfit had hatched a criminal conspiracy at Sarthal Gool and then eliminated seven persons at Galiote, tehsil Udhampur.
On his disclosure, Manzoor Ahmed code Furqan, son of Gulam Mohd of Dalwa Gool, Farooq Ahmed code Nasir, son of Abdul Rehman Beig of Salbala Gool and Mohd Din, son of Fazal Din of Tangar Morha Saidua, Ramban were arrested in the month of February 2013. The whereabouts of Mohd Hussain code Sainu code name Shoukat Patwari, son of Hakim Din of Chhachhwa Gool were still not known.
