Police-Public Mela all set to take off, Vaid inspects venue

Jammu, Mar 19: Additional Director General of Police Headquarters (ADGP), S. P. Vaid today said that all arrangements for 25th Police-Public Mela, being held at Gulshan Ground Jammu, have been finalized and the Mela is now set to take off tomorrow.
The ADGP said this while inspecting the venue this afternoon to take stock of the arrangements made for the grand event. He was accompanied by AIG (Welfare), Rajeshwar Singh, Mela Nodal Officer, Atul Sharma and other management committee members.
He sought on spot reports about the arrangement put in place by various committees and was briefed by the officers.  He was informed that more than 60 stall holders from all the districts across the State have established their stalls at the identified spaces. He enquired  about various items displayed in different stalls representing all regions of the State. He also discussed the security, traffic, parking space, police bandubast, sanitation, entertainment and other facilities for the visitors.
Mr. Vaid emphasised upon officers to make security and traffic arrangements in such a way so that the visitors reach the venue without facing any inconvenience and common people does not face any problem.
He said that Police Public Melas also provide opportunities to the common public to purchase various items of different regions of the State under one roof on reasonable rates. He said that the Melas also strengthens the police public relations.
The ADGP also discussed the arrangements made for the inaugural ceremony and conduct of raffle draw for 1211 prizes in a transparent manner in presence of public.
Earlier, Chairperson JKPWWA, K. Vijaya Rajendra along with other PAWWA members also visited the venue and discussed in detail the arrangements for the visitors and children taking part in various cultural amusement, tamboola and other items during the Mela.
