Police Public Mela on Mar 17, Rajendra finalizes arrangements

JAMMU, Mar 11: Arrangements for day long 22nd Police Public Mela, being held in Jammu, were finalized at a high level police officers meeting held at Police Headquarters (PHQ), here this afternoon. The meeting was chaired by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), K. Rajendra Kumar.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Rajendra briefed the participants that Police Public Mela was scheduled on February 24, but due to unfavourable weather the event was deferred and would now be held on March 17, 2013 at Police Sports Stadium Gulshan Ground. He disclosed that the Mela would be inaugurated at 10 a.m. and raffle draw for 5606 fabulous prizes would be held at 4 p.m. in presence of the public. He said that all required arrangements have been put in place for the grand event and the stall holders from across the State would be reaching here to establish more than 38 stalls.
Seeking reports from the committees constituted for making required arrangements, Mr. Rajendra stressed upon the organizers to make the event a success. He said that the event, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association (JKPWWA) is one of the grand events of the organization in which people from all walks of life are participating.
Bumper prize has also attracted the people to purchase raffle draw tickets which have already been put for sale at different prominent places across the State, said the ADGP. Stating that special counters for sale of raffle draw tickets would be opened at the venue on Mela day, he stressed for sale of quality products on reasonable rates and rate lists displayed at each stall. He said that the children participating in the competitions would be provided  refreshments.
Expressing his satisfaction over the arrangements made, the ADGP stressed for making all required efforts to ensure security in and around the venue. He also discussed other arrangements related to traffic, parking of vehicles, sanitations, availability of drinking water, police bandubast. He emphasised upon the management committees for close coordination and ensure people’s participation convenient.
Earlier, AIG (Welfare) PHQ, Ranjit Singh Samyal, briefed the meeting about efforts made for the Mela.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADGPs, Dr. Ram Lubhaya, and Navin Agarwal, IGPs, V K Singh, Dilbag Singh, Owais Ahmed, Dr. B Srinivas, H K Lohia, Deepak Kumar, A G Mir, M Sulaiman Salaria, Sunil Kumar Sharma, Dr. K K Saini, Alok Puri and Muneer Ahmed Khan IGPs,  DIGs S S Khandre, T Punchok, S L Sharma, J P Singh, R P Resutra and Shakeel Ahmed Beig and other police officers.
