JAMMU, Aug 30: In an effort to combat the menace of drugs, the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) today raided certain drug hotspots in Sikenderpur Kothey and Dak Bungalow areas in Bishnah and Miran Sahib.
A police official said that the operation aimed to curb illegal drug peddling, smuggling, and addiction in the community.
During the operation, he said, the police carried out intensive checks on pedestrians and vehicles.
He said, acting on a tip-off about drug smuggling in the Sikenderpur Kothey area, the police team rushed to the spot in a joint operation to catch the drug peddlers red-handed.
However, the suspects managed to flee, abandoning their bikes at the scene, he said.
“The police seized several unattended bikes during the operation,” said the police official.
It’s important to note that the police have already booked drug peddlers from this area under the PIT NDPS Act.
During the raid, the police also addressed the general public, emphasizing the importance of education in preventing drug abuse.
“Education is our strongest weapon against the threat of drugs. We must continue to spread awareness and guide our youth towards a healthy and productive future,” said the police official.
A similar raid was conducted in Dak Bungalow area of Miran Sahib, he added.
