Police recovers 7 covers of old mortar shells

SAMBA, July 7: Police today recovered seven covers of old mortar shells in the road side of Jammu -Pathankot National Highway in Vijaypur area of Samba district near Sabzi Mandi.
SSP Samba, Benam Tosh along with other senior officers and team of the bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot soon after getting information.
The police also ruled out any possibility of terror angle. The shells were found in the bushes on one side of the Jammu-Pathankot Highway.
These may have been part of the scrap being ferried by scrap dealers. To avoid a police post, they may have thrown out these rusted old shells here, SSP Benam Tosh said.
An investigation is underway to ascertain the details, he said.
