Police recovers arms, ammunition from well

SAMBA, June 7: Police today recovered arms and ammunition at about 1530 hours from a well in Chak Manga, Ward No 12 in Samba district.
Police said it received an information through reliable source that objects like arms and ammunition have been found from a well in Ward Number 12 Chack Manga, Samba during its cleaning by locals of the area.
A team of police led by SHO Samba, Deepak Jasrotia rushed to the spot and took the arms and ammunition in its possession which included , one Carbine two Carbine magazines, one Spring of magazine and one rusted mortar shell .
The police later deactivated the mortar shell with the help of Bomb Disposal Squad at the bank of river Basantar. The police has also registered a case and started investigation. Sources said that police is also investigating that the Carbine Gun is only with security forces and how it came in the well.
The people of the village had decided to clean this old well to overcome the shortage of drinking water in the village. The cleaning of the well was started yesterday and the ammunition was found during the second day today.
