Police recovers Rs 7.91 lakh defrauded online

KISHTWAR, June 11: Police here today recovered online defrauded money amounting Rs. 7,91,600.
A handout of Kishtwar Police stated that the Cybercrime Investigation Unit (CIU) resolved a case involving multiple online frauds and recovered more than Rs. 7.91 lakh.
The reported scams included mobile recharge frauds, unauthorized third-party app installations and malicious Telegram links promoting fraudulent trading apps like Aviator, Happybet, 11Winner and Skywinner.
Upon receiving complaints, the CIU launched an immediate and detailed investigation leveraging advanced technical methods to trace and recover the defrauded funds. The swift actions of CIU led to the recovery of more than Rs. 7.91 lakh which was defrauded online and investigations continue to retrieve additional funds with promising leads in several cases.
District Police Kishtwar has urged the public to remain vigilant against online frauds and refrain from clicking suspicious links, installing unauthorized apps and sharing personal information online and report suspicious activities immediately to National Cybercrime Helpline at 1930.
