Srinagar, Dec 29: Police have registered a case for demolishing and defacing a pedestal erected by Rural Development Department (RDD) in Gadool village of Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Block Development Officer (BDO) Kokernag, Rashid Raina told Excelsior that Minister for RDD, Abdul Haq Khan, was supposed to lay foundation stone of 1.5 kilometre long road from Gadool to Magraypora on December 25 and for that purpose a foundation stone was erected at Gadool.
“The Minister, however, didn’t come here as he was busy in Delhi and later some persons who don’t want construction of the road dismantled it,” he said. The BDO informed that there is a dispute between two villages over the road as one village wants construction of road and another opposes it.
“Basically the land of some villagers will come under the road construction and that is why they are opposing it,” the BDO said. He said that the police have registered a case against dismantling of the pedestal.
