Police remand of ex-SSP, others extended in Greater Kailash murder case

JAMMU, May 9: City Judge Jammu Pooja Raina today extended five days police remand of ex-SSP Sheikh Mehmood, Parshtom Singh alias Nikka, Suraj Singh, son of Parshtom Singh, Sandeep Charak, Vikas Singh, Ravinder Kumar Gupta alias Gola Shah and Rajat Jandyal, son of Ravinder Gupta in the much publicized Greater Kailash murder case.
Today, SHO Gangyal Police Station produced the accused before the court seeking extension of police remand. The court, after perusal of CD file, said, “investigation is at initial stage as such police remand is extended up to May 13, 2024”.
Meanwhile, Police raided three locations in connection with the ongoing investigation into the murder of a 39-year-old man in Greater Kailash locality here.
As per a statement, the raids were conducted on the orders of the court in the houses of former SSP Sheikh Mehmood at Channi, land grabber Purshotam Singh at Bishnah, and the driver of another land grabber Ravinder Gupta alias Gola Shah at Gangyal.
“Over 60 documents related to the land deals and the sales along with several digital devices were seized for analysis during the daylong raids,” the statement said.
According to police, the driver of Ravinder Gupta has been closely associated with him for the past many years, allegedly becoming a conduit for ill-gotten gains.
Recently, two vehicles used in the commission of crime, along with CCTV footages of the crime scene and some digital evidences were also seized by the police for examination.
