RAMBAN, Nov 22: Acting tough against bovine smugglers and to curb the bovine smuggling menace here, police parties of police stations Batote, Chanderkote, Ramban and Dharamkund intercepted 11 different vehicles moving from Jammu to Srinagar and found 112 bovine animals loaded in them with utmost cruelty and without any arrangements of food and water.
These animals were being transported to Kashmir without any valid permission of competent authority and the involved vehicles were with registration numbers JK14H/6958, JK02AR/8377, JK22/7299, JK02CU/9862, JK19A/1225, JK19A/1102, JK02CD/9921, JK19A/1102 and JK02AU/4456.
The cops rescued 112 bovine animals under operation Kamdhenu and registered cases in this regard at the respective police stations under relevant sections of law and investigation was set into motion.
The overall rescue operation was made by police parties under the command of Inspector P.D Singh, SHO Chanderkote, Inspector Sandeep Charak SHO Ramban, Inspector Sam Gill SHO Batote and Inspector Hargopal Singh SHO Dharamkund under the supervision of Pardeep Singh Sen, Dy.SP. Hqrs Ramban and Nisar Ranjan, SDPO Gool with the overall supervision of SP Ramban, Mohita Sharma.
