Police rescues 27 bovines, arrests 2 smugglers

SAMBA, Feb 19: Samba police on second consecutive day successfully foiled three attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing 27 animals after arresting two bovine smugglers in three separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS), Ghagwal.
Police said a team of Police Station (PS), Ghagwal while performing routine vehicle checking duty at naka NH Tapyal, intercepted a mini bus bearing registration number, JK02L-8328 coming from Kathua side and moving towards Jammu.
During checking of the vehicle, five cattle were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. The accused driver identified as Mohd. Ghaffar, son of Mohd.Yaqoob of Doogian-Bathindi, Jammu has been arrested on spot.
All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot. In this connection, a case FIR No. 39/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
In another similar incident, police party of PS Ghagwal rescued 17 more bovines during naka checking at NH Tapyal which were being transported in a truck having registration No PB12N-0621 moving towards Valley.
The accused driver identified as Munawar Hassan, son of Haroon of Nai Basti, Mustafabad-Khandhala, Uttar Pardesh has been arrested on spot. In this connection, a case FIR No. 40/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
Later, during wee hours, five more bovines were rescued by police party of PS Ghagwal at naka NHW Tapyal which were being transported in a Mahindra vehicle having registration number JK08B-8636. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot.
A case FIR No. 41/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation taken up.
