UDHAMPUR, May 18: Continuing its drive against bovine smuggling, Police today rescued 29 animals and arrested three persons in this connection at Kud.
Reports said that acting on reliable information, a Police party from Kud Police Station laid a surprise naka near Kud town and intercepted a convoy of three Mahindra vehicles bearing registration number JK03V-8857, JK06-1532 and JK02AK-3375. The vehicles were loaded with 29 bovine animals which were being smuggled to Kashmir.
Police rescued the bovines, which were brutally packed inside these vehicles.
Three inter district bovine smugglers, namely Liaqat Ali of Vijaypur Samba, Tej Ali
of Ramgarh and Faji of Roun Domail were arrested on the spot though driver of vehicles bearing registration number JK06-1532 managed to escape.
