RAMBAN, Mar 13: Police here today foiled a bovine smuggling bid and arrested four smugglers, seized four vehicles involved and rescued 53 bovines.
On directions of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar, Police Stations of Chanderkote, Ramsoo and Banihal intercepted four vehicles.
On inspection of these vehicles 53 bovines were found loaded in cruel manner without provisions of food and water and the transportation also violated required permissions from the competent authority.
On this Police registered FIR No. 38/2024 at Police Station Chanderkote, FIR No. 30/2024 and 31/2024 at Police Station Ramsoo and FIR No. 35/2024 at Police Station Banihal under Sections 188 IPC and under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
After rescuing bovines four smugglers were arrested and all the four vehicles involved in the crime were seized and investigation has been started.
The rescue operation was conducted by Police parties led by SHOs Police Stations Chanderkote, Ramsoo and Banihal under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ramban, SDPO Banihal, Addl. SP Ramban with overall supervision by SSP Ramban.
