Police rescues 9 bovines

KATHUA, May 22: Tightening the noose on bovine smugglers within the district, Kathua Police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal, today rescued nine bovines in the jurisdictional area of Police Station (PS) Hiranagar near Tarnah area.
Police said today at about 1:50 hours an information was received from the reliable sources that some unknown persons were smuggling bovine animals from Tarnah side towards Kunthal area of Border Police Post (BPP) Chakra. Acting swiftly a police team led by ASI Rajinder Kumar in charge BPP Chakra under the close supervision of SDPO Border, Pankaj Soodan and Inspector, Sunil Kumar, SHO PS Hiranagar during patrolling duty in the area noticed the movement of few unknown persons who were enrouted from Tarnah side towards Kunthal area.
On seeing police party the bovine smugglers managed to fled away from the spot while leaving behind all the bovines. During checking police team was able to rescue 09 bovines on spot. All the nine bovines (08 cows and 1 bull) were rescued. A case has been registered at PS Hiranagar vide FIR No. 68/2022 U/S 188/IPC while further investigation into the matter has been set into motion.
