Police rescues drunken bureaucrat, driver

SRINAGAR, Mar 26: Police in South Kashmir last night rescued a bureaucrat and his driver, who were allegedly drunk, after their vehicle had a minor accident with a truck on the National Highway.
The private vehicle of the bureaucrat bearing registration number JK18-1062 collided with a truck on Srinagar-Jammu highway near Awantipora last night. The driver of the Government official didn’t stop even after the duo received multiple injuries in the accident.
A police party on seeing them fleeing after the accident with a deflated tyre stopped the car and admitted the duo in the Primary Health Centre Awantipora.
The duo according to reports didn’t stop at the spot of accident to evade arrest. Sources said that the bureaucrat and his driver threw liquor bottles from the vehicle shortly after police stopped their vehicle.
The doctors at the PHC after taking the blood samples of the duo confirmed that they were under the influence of alcohol. They even misbehaved with the hospital staff. The staff demanded stern action against the bureaucrat and his driver.
They were taken to Police Station Awantipora after they were discharged from the hospital.
