Police seizes 120 banned capsules, 18 bottles of Whisky, arrests 2

KATHUA, Feb 16: Cracking down heavily on narcotics smuggling and those indulging in trade of illicit liquor as well as to neutralize the activities of drug peddlers within the district, Kathua Police under the guidance of SSP, Shivdeep Singh Jamwal today seized 120 SPM-PRX (Sapsmo Proxyvon) Capsules like narcotics and 18 bottles of JK Excise Whisky of 750 ml each at Lakhanpur area. Two persons were arrested on the spot in this connection.
Police said a team headed by Inspector, VIjay Kotwal SHO Police Station, Lakhanpur under the supervision of DySP DAR, Kathua, Subash Chander during Naka checking in its jurisdictional area apprehended one person namely Gulzar Chand alias Ghosha, son of Dev Raj Chand of Chak Drab Khan, tehsil & district Kathua who was wandering under suspicious circumstances.
On thorough checking, 120 SPM-PRX (Spasmo -Proxyvon) capsules like narcotics were recovered from his possession which was seized by the police. An instant case vide FIR No. 10/2023 U/S 8/21/22/ NDPS Act was registered at Police Station (PS) Lakhanpur and further investigation has been set into motion.
In another case the police have also arrested one bootlegger and seized 18 bottles of JK Excise Whisky (750 ml each) from him in the jurisdiction of Police Station Lakhanpur at Marolli village.
Police said yesterday during routine checking a team of police led by Inspector, Vijay Kotwal, SHO PS Lakhanpur under the supervision of DySP, DAR, Kathua, Subash Chander during the naka checking duty at village Maroli apprehended one person namely Baldev Singh, son of Girdhari Lal of Panyara who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
On checking 18 bottles of JK Excise Whisky were recovered from his possession. He was arrested on spot and liquor was seized by police.
A case FIR NO 09/2023U/S 48 (a) Excise Act was registered at PS Lakhanpur and investigation started.
