Police seizes 18 bottles of illicit liquor, arrests 2

KATHUA, July 14: In its drive against the trade of illicit liquor menace in the district, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP, R C Kotwal- today recovered 18 bottles of illicit liquor near Barnadi, Kathua and arrested two persons in this connection.
Police said it was reliably learnt that few persons were doing the trade of illicit liquor near Barnadi, Kathua. Acting on the same information police team led by Inspector, Vikas Sharma in charge Police Post (PP) Marheen under the supervision of SDPO Border, Sachit Mahajan during special checking duty in that particular area near Barnadi, intercepted one motorcycle bearing Registration Number PB35X-1519.
During checking, one bag was recovered which contained one and half dozen bottles of illicit liquor. On thorough checking 15 bottles of J&K Special Whisky of 180ml each and three bottles of 750 ml each (illicit liquor) were recovered from the possession of two accused namely Rakesh Kumar son of Bishamber Dass and Shamsher Singh son of Janak Raj. Both are residents of Hariyachak. Meanwhile all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor seized and two persons arrested and one motorcycle seized.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No 125/2021 U/S 48 a (f) Excise Act stands registered at PS Rajbagh and investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile Kathua police has challaned 29 persons for violating COVID SOPs and recovered a fine of Rs 11,500 from them.
