JAMMU Dec 28: Continuing its war against drugs, Component Police of Jammu district today achieved a major success by busting a gang of narcotic smugglers and making a recovery of huge consignment of high quality charas from them.
SP Police Component, Jammu, SSP Sandeep Mehta deputed a team of Component sleuths who laid a joint naka at Toll Plaza Nagrota along with police party of Police Station, Nagrota. During the checking of vehicles, one Santro Car bearing Registration Number, DL 9C M-7899 was stopped and during comprehensive search of the vehicle, 18 Kg of high quality charas was concealed in specially designed chambers inside the body of Santro Car.
On further enquiry, the two persons on board disclosed their identity as Mohammad Altaf khan, S/o Mohammad Aslam Khan of Zakoora Srinagar and Rameez Raja, S/o Mohammad Shafi of Hazratbal Srinagar. The said consignment of Narcotics and the vehicle have been seized and both the persons have been arrested.
Case under relevant sections of the law NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Nagrota. Further investigation is going on to uncover the others involved in it which may lead to more arrests. The arrests were made by SHO Nagrota, Deepak Pathania under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota, Mohan Sharma and SP rural Dushant Sharma.
