Police seizes 23 bottles of Corex, arrests 2

KATHUA, Apr 5: Acting sternly against the drugs menace and its propagators within district, Kathua police today arrested two drug peddlers in the jurisdictional area of PS Hiranagar and recovered 23 bottles of Corex (Codeine Phosphate) like contraband, arrested two persons and seized one vehicle (Alto Car) which was involved in smuggling of contraband items.
Police said as the information was received from the reliable source yesterday that two persons namely, Lalit Singh Sambyal, son of Vinay Singh of Dyalachak tehsil Hiranagar and Prayas Sharma, son of Omkar Singh of Mela tehsil Hiranagar who were involved in sale and purchase of Narcotics/ Psychotropic substance in Hiranagar area and coming from Jammu towards Dyalachak in an Alto car bearing Registration Number JK08L-3086 by carrying intermediate quantity of contraband cough syrup (Codeine Phosphate) in their possession.
The police party led by Inspector, Amit Sangra SHO PS Hiranagar under the supervision of SDPO Border, Pankaj Soodan laid a special naka duty at Londi area and apprehended the two persons from an Alto car bearing Registration Number JK08L-3086 who were travelling under suspicious circumstances. On thorough checking, 23 Bottles of “Corex”(Codeine Phosphate 100 ml each) were recovered from their illegal possession. Thereafter both the persons were arrested, Alto car along with recovered Corex Bottles were seized on spot.
In this regard a case FIR No. 45/2023 U/S 08/21/22/29/NDPS Act was registered at PS Hiranagar and further investigation taken up.
