Police seizes illicit liquor

KATHUA, June 14: In continuation to its drive against illicit liquor, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal, today conducted a raid at Gatarua village and approximately seized 10 liters of illicit liquor and arrested one person in this connection.
Police said that on the basis of a reliable information that one person namely Sakki, son of Lt. Gulabu of Persu Chakk is doing the trade of illicit liquor at Gatarua village Tehsil Marheen. Acting on the same, a joint team of PS Rajbagh along with police team of Police Post (PP) Marheen led by Inspector, Bhopinder Singh, SHO PS Rajbagh conducted a raid and apprehended one person. During checking approximately 10 liters of Desi liquor has been recovered which was purportedly kept to be sold in the adjoining area among general public to gain illegitimate profit. Thereafter the consignment of illicit liquor was seized and accused was arrested. In this regard, a case vide FIR No 98/2021 U/S 48(a) Excise Act has been registered at PS Rajbagh and further investigation of the case is going on.
