LEH, Apr 2: Taking cognizance of a disturbing video that has surfaced on social media today showing a group of children assaulting a boy in an abandoned building, Police Station Leh has immediately initiated enquiry into the matter.
During investigation, it came to fore that the incident took place on 18-02-2023 during Mela Dosmoche and taking cognizance of the video, Police Station Leh registered a case under FIR Number 43/2023 under relevant sections of law.
“All the children involved in this incident have been apprehended and an investigation has been initiated under the law,” a Police spokesman said while urging the parents, teachers and the society at large to inform the police immediately whenever such incident are reported anywhere in the district.
He further reiterated that the police being the investigating agency always take action into such matter but the children in conflict with law, being the minors and school going children are in dire need of counseling, parenting and social mentoring.
Meanwhile, District Police Leh has warned that any act of violence, especially when it involves children/minors shall invite strict action under law. The Police urged everyone to exercise restraint and not to spread this video further, as it may cause unnecessary harm to the victim and the children involved.
